The Biggest Mistake When Growing Your Facebook Page & How To Avoid It!

When it comes to growing your Facebook page, I see a lot of ladies getting obsessed with the numbers – they’re desperate to reach their first 1000 likes and are trying everything and anything to get there! But this is the biggest mistake you can make!! When it comes to growing our page the key is to focus on quality over quantity. We want to be attracting our ideal customers to our page and not just anyone, as it’s our ideal customers who will buy from us further down the line. But random people who don’t have a need for what we do will never buy, so what’s the point in getting them to like our page in the first place?! So how do you focus on attracting only your ideal customers to your page? Here’s my top tips to do this:

1. Figure out who your ideal customers actually are: This is such an important first step, but one that many people skip. Please take the time to sit down and work out who your ideal customers actually are. Remember – you can’t be all things to all people, so get really clear on who your ideal customers are by asking yourself these 2 questions: 1. What problem do you solve for people? and 2. Who are the people that most struggle with these problems? These are your ideal customers! So, think about who are the people that are most likely to buy from you? What are they struggling with most and how can you offer them a solution to help them? Once you have this info it will make attracting the right people to your page sooo much easier!

2. Use the audience insights tool to find them on Facebook: Once you’re clear on who your ideal customers are and how you can help them, your next step should be to use Facebook’s free audience insights tool to track them down and see where they’re spending their time on Facebook. This is such a great tool as you can use it to see what other pages your ideal customers are following. You can then visit these pages to see what people are responding to most and use it to get inspiration for your own page. You can also use audience insights to find out more about your ideal customers such as where they’re located, how they access Facebook and other key demographics. To access this tool go to your ads manager, click ‘all tools’ and select ‘audience insights.’  I’ve created a free mini-masterclass showing you exactly how to use this, so make sure you take a look as it really can be such a powerful tool! 3. Run a Facebook Likes Ad: Running a Facebook Likes Ad is one of the best things I have done to grow my page. They are so effective as you can be really specific when setting up your target audience – so these Ads will only target and attract your ideal customers to your page. A really amazing way to use these Ads is to target the specific pages that you know your ideal customers will be following – so you will have found this info out when using the audience insights tool and you can now target the fans of these pages with your Likes Ad. So for example, I might target a page called Mari Smith as she is a big industry leader when it comes to Facebook marketing. So I know that her fans are very likely to also be interested in my content and are also likely to be my ideal customers too – so my Likes Ad will target these people specifically and attract them over to my page. See how powerful this can be!  Using this Ad has been the main way I have grew my page to over 10,000 fans and that’s with just spending £1 a day – so it doesn’t need to be expensive! 4. Create amazing content that your ideal customers will love: You need to make sure that you’re speaking directly to your ideal customer through ALL of your marketing messages. So absolutely everything you write and share should be specifically for your ideal customers and content you know they will find really useful. Don’t be afraid to share too much – the more amazing content you share on your page, the more you position yourself as an expert, gain credibility and the more people will interact with you and the more ideal customers you will attract to your page. It’s fine to share your own content and content from other people, but always make sure it is stuff that your ideal customers are going to love. So you could share quick tips, blogs, how to videos etc. Mix it up and try posting at different times of the day to see which works best for you. By sharing this amazing content you will organically attract even more of your ideal customers to your page as they will see that you’re sharing content that can really help them, so they will like your page and engage to make sure they keep getting your free advice.

So now that you know how to attract your ideal customers to your page, make sure you focus on this and not attracting any random person – as what’s the point of having 10,000 people like your page if the majority of them are not interested in what you have to say and are never going to buy from you. So although it may take longer to grow your page, you’ll have a page full of fans who are your ideal customers, who you can build a relationship with and who are likely to buy from you when they are ready.

I really hope you’ve found this useful – if you have any questions pop them below or come over to my Facebook page to ask me there.

Good luck and let me know how you get on! 🙂
